One of our favourite dramatic play experiences is caring for our pretend Sonas babies. With the educator the children share their ideas of caring for babies and experiences they observed. A few beautiful comments were made:
“warm hugs will make him sleep best.”
“keep your baby like this, she will sleep good.”
“kisses make her feel good when baby cries.’
The experience provides the educator the opportunity to engage in discussion about caring for each other particularly focussing on someone younger. It is wonderful to see the children transfer knowledge of possible prior experience through demonstrating their gentle hands and using many endearing words whilst engaging with their babies.
