Today we grabbed out some people figurines and some play dough and different recourse we used for building.

As we sat and the children began to build different things they saw in our community building houses, shops, parks and even a school. We also discussed the type of people we see around our community discovering that we see teachers, doctors, educators, mummies, daddies, grandpas, grandmas, police officers, babies, and fire fighters.

The children noticed that the people figurines had all different features some had blonde hair while some had black hair, some had fair skin while some had darker skin. One was sitting in a wheelchair, one was blind, some were older while some were younger.

This led to a conversation about how everyone is different and some people have different features or backgrounds. The children then discussed their backgrounds discovering that some of us speak different languages, have multiple siblings or are the only child. Some mummies and daddies don’t live together or how they have stepparents or siblings.

They discovered that we are all different which they showed to love discussing.
