One of our families had some baby chicks hatch and we were lucky enough to look after them for the day. We discussed the life cycle, gave them water through a syringe.
We watched a clip on how baby chicks hatch from their eggs and the children then created their own sensory tray with different textures with how they thought the chicks felt.
