This imaginative play experience allows children to explore and discover the world of dinosaurs through touch, sight, and sensory play.

Analysis of learning:

Children have a sense of belonging to family, community, and other groups.

What a fun, messy experience we set up for our community messy mat session! First, the children helped with where we were placing each of the different foods, such as baked beans used to create a volcano, blue/green spaghetti to create wavey water, sticky chia seeds to stomp through, and then we added some sliced oranges as lily pads and some nature leaves from our trees in the garden to finish it off.

It had us all engaged in dinosaurs. We welcomed three new friends from our community who came in and joined in on some messy fun, finding us on Facebook community pages and coming down to play.

Our friends enjoyed getting sticky with chia seeds, as you can see from the excitement on their faces at the icky sticky seeds. We sat feeding the dinosaurs’ spaghetti and stomped their feet through baked beans!

We had conversations about what type of dinosaurs we had and named the T-Rex, as he is sooooooo scary Roarrrrrr.
