We have been learning about the history of our First nations peoples after visiting Boola Bardip and ordering our materials to create dolls. We have extended our learning to our outdoor play space.

We already have an amazing mulberry tree and a cherry tree but to care for the country we would like to add some native plants so we can observe and soon try some of the food gathered by the Aboriginal people. So off to Bunnings we went after a discussion about what types of plants we were looking for.  The older school aged children began assisting the younger children to read the various plant names until we found tucker bush.

Choosing Youlk and Fingerlyme to bring back with us we also chose some beautiful pots with Aboriginal designs on them to start our plants indoors before moving them into our triangular gardens.

A quick play in the playground before an Acknowledgment to Country and then we headed back to Sonas. The next day we potted our investment before coming up with the schedule for care for our new additions.

And of course, we will be back at Bunnings!
