Today some of our vacation care friends went to Central Wanneroo shops, where they purchased the Lego that they wished to construct back at the centre.

The children enjoyed walking to the shops; it is great seeing them in the community and feeling their sense of belonging.

They were an amazing help and demonstrated their awareness of their community by talking about their favourite shops and foods they enjoy and were great navigators, especially of Kmart.

Today we have spent the morning being creative and talking about our potential designs.

Once we have created our sculptures, we will be placing these in display for the families to view and select their favourite.

Lego is such a wonderful experience that not only enhances our imagination but also promotes mathematical skills, problem-solving, hypothesis, and collaboration—not to mention a sense of accomplishment when it is finished.

Analysis of learning:

Children are introduced to the concept of following a plan through the use of an instruction plan.

Children will need to read and look at the instructions and then determine how to commence the task following the steps.
