Continuing with the letter ‘A’, the children were encouraged to mix the oobleck (cornflour and water) in the tray, as well as scoop with spoons.
We spoke about which animals were from Australia and the different characteristics of each (long tail for kangaroo, short tail for koala, etc.). We also drew the letter A with our fingers and spoons.
In addition to learning about science concepts (hard, wet, and squishy properties of oobleck), oobleck is also great for the development of fine motor skills as children work and strengthen their hand muscles while engaged in play.
We will continue to develop the children’s literacy by using an alphabet letter of the week and creating meaningful learning experiences to support the children’s learning journey.
