Sonas Ardross – Making Paint 

This fortnight one of our objectives was ‘Child engages in a variety of developmentally appropriate physical activities.”

The children were invited to create art by making their own paint by using chalk. Tools and equipment for crushing and pounding were available and were actively supervised as the children explored precision, motion and force for grinding and pounding.

Afterwards, we mixed water and crushed chalk into the mortar until the consistency was met. The children then used the liquified chalk paint for their painting session.
