The children gathered to learn about Velikden, the Bulgarian Easter celebration, exploring its traditions and significance.

We were honoured to have Rosica, who is one of our parents, introduce Velikden, explaining that it is a time of joy and renewal for many Bulgarian families. The children were curious to learn about this cultural celebration and its customs.

The children engaged in the special celebration where they coloured eggs using traditional Bulgarian patterns and learned about the significance of the egg in Bulgarian culture.

Reflection: Celebrating Velikden provided the children and educators with a glimpse into Bulgarian culture and its rich traditions. We discussed that we would like to do this experience again next year and then invite families to come and participate with us.

Thank you Rosica for sharing this special ceremony with us. We are looking forward to doing it again next year!

Next Steps: Building on this experience, we will continue to explore different cultural celebrations and traditions to promote diversity and understanding among the children. We will also encourage the children to share their own cultural traditions and celebrations, fostering a sense of pride in their heritage.
