Objectives : Child recognises self as a unique individual having their own abilities, characteristics, emotions and interests.
The children used coloured pencils and mirrors to look at themselves and draw what they saw.
We encouraged the children to attempt to draw a large circle for their face, two little circles for their eyes, a nose and a mouth. Some of the children went beyond their face and were able to draw a body that had legs and arms.
The children did really well looking into the mirror then having a go at drawing what they could see.
This activity allowed the children to understand that we all have different characteristics and that’s why we are unique.
