Sonas Baldivis South – Breaking the Ice!

As an extension of our interest in melting ice and breaking free the animals, we set up some more ice and even added cornflour.

We had a discussion about how and what would happen to the ice when it was hit with water. We also had a discussion about what would happen when the melted ice mixed into the cornflour.

We spoke about goop and how it was water and cornflour. Once the children had filled the containers with water, they used their fine motor skills to squeeze the pipettes to collect and disperse the water.

They noticed the colours mixing together with the cornflour. We made it pink, and eventually purple. Throughout the afternoon, the children came and went, exploring the different stages of the activity.

The Nest babies came to have a look and have a go. Eventually the ice melted, and the children moved on to other activities
