Last week we made a home for our dinosaurs in our tough tray with our educator.

The children made all the choices on what they thought would make a perfect home for the dinosaurs.

We all got together and discussed what things we needed for the dinosaurs. The children listed the various materials that were needed including sand. So off we went to the sandpit to gather buckets and spades and began filling our buckets up with sand.

We tipped them into the tough tray and thought of what we needed next. We then collected some wood chips that had blown onto our grass. Someone spotted the tap and said we must have water, so again we used our buckets and filled them up with water with our educators’ help. Once we had finished, we had such a great home for them.

We asked the children why they chose the items they did for the dinosaur’s home. They told me “The wood chips are the mud; The water is for them to drink, and the sand is for them to sleep on”.

Off the children went to gather their dinosaurs they wanted. We spoke about what they eat and where they live and what their names were, with the children teaching their educators the names of all the different dinosaurs.
