Today, we invited our amazing Mums for an afternoon tea and art collaboration. We were so excited to have our parents and grandparents here to celebrate our fabulous mothers.
We made decoupage pots, mosaic plates, and planted pansies, which are symbols of love, compassion, remembrance, and nostalgia.
The children enjoyed a huge afternoon tea and got to play with their mums, friends, and teachers all at once.
We have all had a great time, and it was amazing seeing everyone come out to join us.
Analysis
This type of event is amazing for building that sense of community and family with the children.
The two major sets of people in their lives combined all for them. Sharing and participating in celebrations can create joy and a sense of belonging for children and often provide the opportunity to develop respect for and understanding of diverse values and beliefs.
The various experiences on offer had a variety of skills and abilities that they were helping develop, however, in this instance, that learning was ancillary to the social impact of the event.
