This morning we explored our Garden Studio by playing peek a boo.

The children started to play peek a boo using the coloured perspective stands. We continued our peek-a-boo game through the bamboo. I would call out “Where are you?” and say the child’s name before appearing out from behind the bamboo to say “Boo.”

The children started to giggle and run and hide themselves. Even repeating words such as “boo!”

Analysis of learning: The children explore relationships through play. They express happiness and satisfaction when feeling a sense of belonging. Peek a boo stimulates their senses; it helps build their gross motor skills, strengthens visual tracking, encourages social development, and, best of all, sparks their sense of humour.

It helps reinforce object permanence and strengthens their ability to understand that even though your baby or toddler can’t see something, like your smiling face, it still exits. Exploring peek-a-boo through their environment strengthens their spatial awareness skills.
