We have been enjoying exploring our senses at Baldivis South lately.
We extended our interest in different fruits and water trays by creating a water tray filled with dehydrated lemons, limes and oranges.
The children explored the texture of the sliced fruits, comparing how they were different from our usual orange slices, seeing how they feel on our hands.
We then began smelling the fruits, seeing if we could tell which slice was which fruit by how it smelt, some of the children knew which the orange slice was straight away, and they commented that the lemon smelt “funny”.
Finally, some of the children decided they wanted to taste the different fruits, making faces at the sourness or going back for more, when they found one they enjoyed.
