This week, the children of Sonas Bayswater have been learning all about recycling by using recycled containers, tins, spoons and scoops, and egg cartons in play.
The children have explored red, pink, blue, and purple rice. They had the best time using the spoons and their hands to scoop and transfer the rice, listening to the different sounds it made when it hit the different containers, pouring it back into the tray, and starting again. As they played, I spoke about recycling and that items can be used more than once and for many different purposes.
Objectives: developing hand-eye coordination, exploring imagination, using items to represent something else, and using their senses to explore and respond to their world.
