To further the environmental aspect of our program we have been focusing on two areas this week. The first was water conservation where the children need to devise ways that will conserve the only cup of water they were given. This included creating a collection basin at the bottom or closing the lids of the bottle one at a time to regulate the flow of water.

The second activity looks at our discussions on worm farming in conjunction with composting – as part of our continual learning journey, after reading ‘Yucky Worms’, we decided to create a sensory tray that would indicate how worms feel in dirt and what they could possibly look like. This also tested our fine motor skills as we attempted to pick the ‘worms’ up and put them in a jar.
