There are millions of reasons why children play in sand pits but it’s mostly because it’s heaps of fun!!

When creating play experiences for the children in the sand pit Educators think about some of the following benefits to playing in the sand pit:

–  Sand play promotes physical development – Do you remember what a skill it is just learning to walk through sand?

–  Sand play builds – Social skills – By grouping in small groups the children are able to scaffold each other’s play through engagement and sharing building community spirit.

–  Sand play boosts your immune system – engaging with our natural world helps provide us with a stock of antibodies to live in the world.

But mainly it’s really a whole bunch of fun!!
