We discussed that St Patrick’s Day was a special day for the Irish culture and that green was the colour related to history and folklore.  Over time, green was adopted as the colour of the Irish rebellion and the shamrock became a key symbol.  The Irish flag is three blocks of colour, green, white, and orange.

Leprechauns are one reason you are supposed to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, or risk getting pinched!  The tradition is tied to folklore that says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, who like to pinch anyone they can see.

One of our children dressed up in his Tipperary outfit and bought in his Hurling bat and ball along with a story for us to read.
