The week, our children explored the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
This story concept led to a great hand eye coordination skill activity where the children fed the caterpillar box different types of toy fruits and vegetables. This was a great way for children to analyse what they are holding and recognise what type of food it is and the healthy side of it. Simultaneously, reach their developmental milestone of putting/ removing objects out of a small opening of a box.
Lastly, the stories predictable/patterning language encouraged children to speak and read along.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar also teaches children about the days of the week, counting, nutrition, and the life cycle of a butterfly.
