This week, the children at Wanneroo have continued to work on our self-serving skills for each meal that we have, whether it is morning tea, lunch, or afternoon tea.

The children have a chance at self-serving, using either the tongs or spoons to dish up.

This allows the children to dish up what food they want and also helps them to learn about the amounts that they eat and when they get full. The children used their hand and eye coordination, along with their focus, to grab or scoop their food up and place it in their bowls.

Through self serving the children develop an understanding of what it means to have a choice as they get to decide what they like and what they don’t. They also learn about waste and healthy eating.
