At Sonas, learning about food is an important part of our curriculum.

The children participate in a variety of activities that relate to making good food choices. This week the children participated in a matching game about healthy and unhealthy food choices; we like to term these always food and sometimes food.

The children were very clever and were able to match up the food. There were lots of rich conversations regarding the food the children eat at home and the naming of the different foods in the game. We learnt through our discussion that we have children that love vegetables and some who are not so keen.

We spoke about the importance of trying new foods.

During our mealtimes, the children then discussed with the educators what vegetables we had at lunch and the different fruits we eat. The children then put in a request with our food coordinator about what fruits they would like next week.
