This week, the educator and children celebrated The Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday with a variety of activities. The children made Hungry Caterpillars of their own to take home and enjoy.
The children absolutely enjoyed the pompom sorting activity where they had to use the tweezers to select different size pompoms and different colours and place them into the tubes of the caterpillar.
This activity was able to promote fine motor skills with the children having to squeeze the tweezers to grasp the pompom. The children also worked on the colour recognition skills.
Lastly, there was lots of conversation and encouragement between the children while they were waiting to take turns.
