Together with the educators the children decided to make squishy bag to explore a range of textures.
The children waltz to the garden with their educators and collected a few leaves to add into their sensory bag and walked back to their room to start the magic. With big smiles the children added the items, each time the educator described the feeling and sound using the following words.
“the leave feels scrunchy, hard and a little prickly”.
“crunch, crunch, crunch”.
“squelch, squelch, squelch is the sound of the liquid”.
The fun learning experience gave the educator the opportunity to use descriptive words to describe what they were feeling, extending and building on the children’s vocabulary.
