“Will it float, or will it sink?” Was the inquiry question at Sonas Atwell.  In preparation for their experiment the children and educator gathered a few objects and filled a container with water, then the fun started.

Before adding objects to the water, we wondered and made inference whether the object would sink or float. Together with the educator the children tested the density and buoyancy of the objected. The children made fantastic predictions deducing their hypothesis on weight, size and construction; however, the peeled and unpeel orange was a big surprise for most of the children. Our little scientist discussed the concepts with the educator and discovered that air and little itsy-bitsy molecules within the item only visible with a microscope were responsible for such a magical outcome.

Our little scientist had so much fun and they are waiting in anticipation for our next science experiment.
