This morning in the Family Studio, Kyesha observed that several children were engaged in colouring activities. I joined them and began inquiring about the colours they were using.
Kyesha soon noted that some children experienced difficulty identifying the colours. In response, I decided to take a small group to the STEAM Studio for further exploration.
Upon arrival, we gathered to read a book about colours, followed by an engaging session with colour flashcards. During this activity, the children selected one colour to focus on for the week: purple.
Beck and Kyesha encouraged the children to explore their environment in search of objects that matched the colour purple. Many discovered purple shells, while others found various items to represent the colour.
To reinforce this learning throughout the week, we will conduct a variety of activities cantered around purple, including sensory trays, painting, cutting, and gluing.
In the following weeks, we will continue this approach by selecting a new colour to focus on, thereby creating an enjoyable and educational journey through the world of colours.
