The children at Sonas Bayswater have been engaging in science experiments with sugar and water.

The children mixed sugar into the water until the sugar couldn’t dissolve any more. The children then poured the water solution into a container and placed it on a shelf. Every few days we check on the experiment together we discussed what has change and what we have observed. Once all the water had evaporated the children observed what was left, one child said it looks like ice and another said it looked like salt.

Objectives: Encouraging the development of skills such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching, and investigating, embedding the importance sharing and turn taking as well as giving the children a chance to experiment and experience the pleasure and benefits of shared learning exploration.
