Sonas Huntingdale – Veggie Painting

January 22, 2021 ·

What do you do with your food scraps?  Here at Huntingdale, we put them in our compost bin so we can make compost for our Allotments. Before our scraps went into the compost bin, we thought the ends of our celery sticks would make fantastic paintbrushes.

We looked through the rest of the vegetable scraps to see what the children wanted to use to create their masterpieces with.  We used the top of a capsicum, ends of the celery sticks and apple cores.

The children used the vegetables in various ways, they stamped them, rolled them and brushed them on the page.  Using the vegetables, we could make various shapes, patterns and sizes, we loved comparing the shapes it made.

We were so proud of our pictures!
