Sonas Wattle Grove – Colour Matching

This morning, we gathered in our STEAM studio to participate in an experience of colour matching using resources around our space.

Using our recycled egg cartons, we added a colour to each slot inside as a visual for the children to identify what colour they were looking for.

Our group utilised this experience by collecting our blocks from our shelves as well as cupcake party liners, as they noticed not all the blocks had the colours they were looking for. Children assisted one another through this experience by identifying what colours their peers were looking for, and overall, they completed this experience more independently than as a pair.

This experience promotes the children’s colour recognition, hand-eye coordination, social development, cognitive abilities, and fine motor skills.
