To support our children with life skills and help prepare some of our children to participate in kids in the kitchen, educators used the opportunity to have children role model play by measuring sand and water.
The children used measuring cups and spoons to try and make pretend mud cakes using sand and water. This experience supported concentration and mathematical equations as they measured equal amounts of mixture.
They spoke about the consistency of their mud cakes and educators suggested adding more sand to make the mixture less runny.
The children then served their mud cakes to educators and peers.
