Do you know what NAIDOC week is? At Sonas Wattle Grove we do! This week we have been discussing NAIDOC week and the importance of celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We took great interest in the Aboriginal flag and the meaning behind it. Our friends asked if they could make their own!
We also explored the art of dot painting where we talked about the meaning behind the different paintings and then had our own turn with natural resources we found in our outdoor environment as the aboriginal people didn’t have paint brushes. The children said that they’d painted themselves, their families and animals.
