The children at Sonas Wattle Grove have enjoyed sand play this week.

Together they have explored the world of sand play through building sandcastles together. They explored the different ways in which sandcastles can be built. This was achieved through using different size buckets and resources to build them.

Whilst others have spent time exploring the sensory play of sand, such as the feeling between their toes, wet sand versus dry sand and the different textures of each type. Some of the children loved burying their feet or hands and feeling the cold sand underneath the surface.

The children have used different resources whilst playing in the sand such as shovels, pots, pans and even their hands to mold the sand into various shapes.

The children encouraged their peers to come and play with them. Together they dug holes and then compared the sizes of each hole before carefully filling them in.

We love watching the children play in nature as it supports their learning and development.
