The children at Sonas Wattle Grove enjoyed developing their Stem skills by taking part in a balloon rocket experiment. They tied a long piece of string from the tree on our hill, and tied the other end to a wooden pillar, causing the string the gradually slope down.

They then attached a cardboard string, with the tube running through the middle before sticky taping a balloon to the bottom. After inflating the balloon, the children counted down from 10 before letting go of the balloon’s tails, watching it fly down the string, being pushed by the air escaping the balloon.

This experiment helps to increase the children understanding of cause and effect, as well as action and reaction in a safe and fun environment.
