Today the educator encouraged free exploration play with construction vehicles.
There was a vehicle city mat, article grass, boxes, and different styles of construction vehicles all on the nest floor and mat.
The educator encouraged the children to explore freely and create their own play with all the items in front of them. It was great watching their eyes wondering and scanning all the items before finding the confidence to go in and explore all the great opportunities to play through each and every item.
Some children used the boxes to park the cars; others pushed and pulled the vehicles along the grass, feeling the texture as they moved the vehicles; some really enjoyed the city-themed mat; so many great ways to play.
The children interacted both one-on-one, and the children then had the opportunity to experience pushing and pulling the vehicles through the complex textures of both the grass and oats. This gets the children to problem-solve as the vehicles sometimes get stuck.
Free exploration in art allows children to explore materials and experiment in an unstructured way. This helps children learn and develop important skills through play.
Imagination: Kids naturally have active imaginations, and when it comes to wheeled toys, the playtime possibilities are endless. Toy cars and vehicles provide the opportunity to create their own stories or recreate scenes from their favourite cartoons or TV shows.
Through this imaginative play, they learn to understand how the world around them works through imitation. Which car will be the first to cross the finish line? Will the fire truck get to the emergency on time? How many people will the bus pick up on the route? How far will the plane travel today?
There are so many possible scenarios and adventures to go on.
