Sonas Early Learning and Care centres have shared cuppas, cakes and hopes for a cancer-free future by participating in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

The Biggest Morning Tea urges communities to host local events that bring people together over a cup of tea to support those affected by cancer and raise vital funds for cancer research, prevention and advocacy programs.

The Sonas event was held on May 19 across all 16 early learning centres.

It is a sad reality that most people have been touched by cancer in some way, whether personally, through family or friends, their local communities or work colleagues.

Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin joined the tea party at Baldivis North, while Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett and his wife, Pat, took part in the event at Coolbellup.

“It is a sad reality that most people have been touched by cancer in some way – whether personally, through family or friends, their local communities or work colleagues,” Sonas Business Development Manager Andrew Lyons said.

“We greatly appreciate everyone’s support for this important annual fundraiser, which we hope will help support more people on the difficult journey of a cancer diagnosis, and lead to better research to reduce cancer rates.”

Organised by the Cancer Council, the Biggest Morning Tea raises important funds to make a difference to people impacted by cancer.

Since its inception 30 years ago, more than 500,000 Biggest Morning Tea events have been hosted nationally and more than $200 million has been raised to fund life-saving research, prevention and support programs.
