Sonas Karrinyup has farewelled centre manager Maddy Froome, who has embarked on an exciting road trip around Western Australia.

Maddy, who joined the Karrinyup team just a few months after the centre opened in 2017, has packed up her 4WD and rooftop tent, and taken to the country roads in an open-ended adventure with her partner.

Sonas Karrinyup has been my baby and it’s been all I’ve known for the last five years. I feel like I’ve grown with the centre to get it to where it is today.

Maddy said saying goodbye to the children and her colleagues at Sonas Karrinyup was like leaving family.

“I was with Sonas Karrinyup basically since the start so it was a hard decision to leave,” she said.

“When I started working at Sonas, I was young and fresh in the industry. Only that year I had received my diploma and I came in as an assistant educator, working in every room including the kitchen. In a few years, I had worked my way up into management as the centre manager.”

Maddy said she had enjoyed her time at Sonas, and had taken great pride in being part of its journey to formulate a unique approach to childcare, including the move to specialist studios, the free-flow pedagogy and creating meaningful learning opportunities for children.

“It’s been really nice to be a part of Sonas because I’ve seen for myself how Sonas has evolved and how the centres have become different to others,” she said.

“When I would take families on tours, it excited me that I could be proud of our differences. I’m really passionate about the benefits Sonas can make to children and their families.

“Sonas Karrinyup has been my baby and it’s been all I’ve known for the last five years. I feel like I’ve grown with the centre to get it to where it is today.

“We’re really looking forward to this trip. We don’t have an end date, which is why I decided to resign so we can keep adventuring and go wherever it takes us. It’s important to take these opportunities in life.”
