The children used their creativity with educator Maddi to build a car ramp out of loose parts.

Using blocks to build a stable starting point for the tunnel to rest on, the children stuck the long tunnel to the blocks. The first car went down, and everyone noticed it needed more blocks under the tunnel to prop it up more. We counted 7 blocks and we all agreed the tunnel was at the perfect height.

As Each car travelled down the tunnel, the children all moved and added on different pieces of cardboard to suit the needs of their car.

Throughout this experience we spoke about force and motion. The children and Maddi discussed that if the box is flat the cars can’t go anywhere due to the height of the tunnel. When the tunnel is propped up, there is somewhere for the car to travel.
