This morning in the kindy and toddler room we explored some colourful paper worms. Integrating science with colour recognition the children were given the opportunity to use water combined with ink and watch the worms wiggle and expand colour.

During this experience we opened the opportunity to discuss what was happening to the worms when we added the water and what colour they were. Once we had finished adding the water to the wiggly worms, we squeezed out the colour and watched as they combined creating a variety of different colours and finishing with a brown.

During activities like these it gives the children the opportunity to hypothesis the theory behind the mixing of the colours and why the worms began to wriggle when water is added.
