This morning, the children engaged in a fun numbers sensory tray filled with different types of household dry foods (corn flakes, pasta, and lentils).

They engaged their senses to explore the textures, sounds, and smells while using their hands to feel the differences between the ingredients. While doing this, they viewed the numbered counters in the tray.

I encouraged them to name the colour and then the number that was printed on the front, and then I asked them to count to that number with me. The highest they could get was 13.

The children are learning important skills ready for kindy, the sequence of numbers, exploring using their senses, and colour recognition.
