Recently, the children in the Art Room have been exploring all the different mediums they can use to paint with.

As a new and exciting resource, the children used spray bottles filled with water and food colouring to create a collaborative piece of artwork. This was an excellent opportunity to practice our fine and gross motor skills, such as steadying the spray bottle, using both hands to pull the trigger, and aiming it at the paper hung on the wall.

By providing only two spray bottles, the children were encouraged to share and take turns with the friends, practicing our patience and strengthening interpersonal relationships between the children of all ages. While engaging in this activity, we spoke about the different colours and what happens when we spray the two different colours on the same spot of paper.

This was an excellent introduction to colour mixing, demonstrating that when mixed, red and yellow make pink. The children were engaged and excited to discuss what happens when we mix other colours together.
