The children of Sonas Bayswater have been engaging in our protective education program.

We sat on the mat for “safe for kids” and read two stories: “Matilda Learns A Valuable Lesson,” which is about persistence in telling when a child feels unsafe or uncomfortable, and “Uncle Willy’s Tickles,” which is about learning to stand your ground and tell someone when they don’t feel safe with something that you’re doing.

We deconstructed the two stories, and the children answered many questions about the theme, message, and different events in the stories. The children are learning protective behaviours, are learning to recognise their own warning signs, and to act on those warning signs ASAP.
