This morning, the children were engaged in story baskets, with the educators setting up some baskets of books in the yard for the children to explore.

The children were encouraged to choose their own story and read it to themselves or with a peer. After a few books, one of the children asked the educator to read a book they had chosen for the group. The children chose the “Old McDonald’s book as they wanted to look at the animals.

After the educators read the book, the children then engaged in an activity using the magnetic animal stickers to continue exploring and learning about animals, the names of the animals, and the sounds they made. Each child took turns shouting the name or the sound of the animals aloud.

Learning: The children enhanced their social and emotional skills and communication skills by sharing and chatting with each other during the experience.
