On our journey to become more sustainable we have found that composting has been a great way to introduce our children to the environment and to reflect on what we could be doing to reduce our carbon footprint.

After many discussions of how we could be converting our waste into nutrient rich soil, Kerry and her handy helpers set off to create a compost bin to use at the service.

We learnt that a good compost recipe includes:

  • Dead plant material
  • Household waste, including fruit and vegetable scraps
  • A layer of soil and exposure to the elements

Collecting the materials, prepping the area and getting dirty was all part of the fun!
