Our Vacation care children have wanted to be educators and have been learning “helping hands” while wearing coloured aprons.

Today the children wanted to do an “activity” with the little children. After a quick discussion about duties and what the experience would be the children set out to make dough, as is aligned with children’s choice we are unable to decide which dough to make and so have made a dough creation station with schoolie helpers to assist with the next step.

This experience was completely child led and assisted the children to develop:

1.) Confidence in their abilities
2.) Mixed age play
3.) School aged children scaffolded the learning of other children while still developing their own social cues.
4.) Mathematical concepts were enhance
5.) Sensorial receptors were engaged
6.) Synaptic pathways built through intrinsic learning.
