This year’s theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is #breakthebias and this week at Sonas Gosnells the children have been learning about how women in history have broken the bias and how we can all help remove bias from the world we live in.
Our children spoke about the women in their lives:
Miss 4: “My nan takes me to swimming”
Mr 4: “My grandmas have all the kids at their house”
Miss 8: “My teacher is a superstar woman”
Miss 3: “Me I’m a woman”
Mr: 5: “My mum is tough she works at the prison”
Some of our discussions have led us to discuss:
- The role of women in the home – Boys can cook too!!!!
- We looked at roles based on genders – Girls can fly a plane
- We discussed individuality – It’s ok to be different it makes you special
Today we are excited to welcome Gail Yarran into our service to share with us the History of Noongar women on Wadjuk Country to complete our celebrations of all the women in our lives.
