Vacation care is a fun time to get out into the community and this week the school aged children have been exploring their natural world and the various habitats within our Gosnells community.

Off we went on a walking adventure to discover the various bird life that live in the wetlands.

Step 1: Hypothesising the species we think live in and around Gosnells and the types of homes they may have.
Step 2: Creating a list of birds we want to see.
Step 3: Walking together to discuss and discover.
Step 4: Review of our Hypothesis.

On our nature walk we learnt:

1) Noongar names for some birds like a magpie is called a Kulbardi
2) 35 species of birds live within the wetlands habitat.
3) We found a beyond blue tree in the middle of the wetlands.
4) It took between 86 – 103 steps to walk to the blue tree.
