Exploring rote counting and other mathematical concepts with the children as part of our NUMERACY component of our Pre-K Program. The Pre-K program is designed to prepare children for school while still incorporating a holistic approach to the child.

How can we scaffold our Pre-K program to include the babies? Educators widen the scope of learning to include what the babies can do. Some of our babies unable to peg onto the corresponding card numbers instead used the pegs to add to the basket before counting the pegs with their educator. Other babies are enjoying counting action songs.

How are they learning? Educators introduce the concept through a fun play based experience then use various other methods to encourage ongoing participation from children such as; open ended questioning: How many flowers can you see? How many times can you jump?
