The Junior Toddler Children enjoyed participating in a flash card game.

In small groups the children were shown cards with various pictures on them. The children then had to name what they could see on the card.  We began with some easy pictures of things like balls and apples, but then slowly progressed until the pictures were either harder to identify or harder to pronounce (e.g, tomato, aeroplane).

The children were able to name most of the pictures on the cards and repeated the words back to the educators when they were a little bit unsure.

We do these activities to not only help the children with their language skills, but also with their cognitive skills as it allows the children to recognise familiar objects and learn to identify and group new ones.
