At Sonas Wattle Grove we engage and explore all aspects of our environments and how to care and look after our beautiful planet. A few weeks ago we found an injured parrot in our outside yard, we carefully rescued him and rang Kanyana Wildlife to come and collect him to make sure he was looked after.

The kindy children continued to ask about the injured bird and where they live and where they’re babies live. We had some group yarning circles where we were able to talk and share our ideas about what we would like to further explore with birds and their habitats.

This week we explored nests and were able to create our own! Some children added feathers and others added an egg and shiny materials to theirs.

As the children grow upon their bird inquiry we will continue to explore and look at what other types of birds there are in our outside environments and what we can do to look after them.
