Sonas Wattle Grove – Our New Robot Friend

The children gathered in the STEAM Studio to participate in a spontaneous experience of creating another robot!

As we have had our recourses order delivered this week this has left us with an abundance of left over boxes and questions on how we can utilise them.

The children decided that it was time for us to create another robot as we have not built one in quite some time. The children and educators brainstormed an idea of how this robot would look and how large we would make it.

Once our plans were mapped out we begin our construction and gluing process using nine boxes in total.

The children searched around the room and our prep area for any recourses that we could use to create features such as a nose, eyes, a mouth and hands.

As it’s around Christmas time we decided two white baubles would work best as eyes and tinsel for eyebrows, a tassel for a nose and old materials for the mouth and clothing.

Once our robot was all complete we then named our new friend Omle who now resides in our STEAM Studio.
